What is pediatric dermatology?
Pediatric dermatology includes the examination, diagnosis and treatment of a variety of skin conditions in children. Kids often have different skin conditions than adults. Sometimes the same skin conditions will present in different ways or require different types of treatment.
Your child may have common things like birthmarks or acne or conditions that are a little more unusual. Children should have their moles evaluated just like adults, though thankfully skin cancer in children is very rare. Kids tend to get more infections as they build their immune systems, including fungus (ringworm), warts, molluscum, etc. We commonly treat rashes like eczema, cradle cap, and rashes from colds and upper respiratory infections.
At Steele Dermatology, we are skilled in the area of pediatric dermatology and experienced in treating children. To learn more about the treatment options available to you, schedule an appointment with Steele Dermatology online or give us a call at (770) 464-6000.
